Beginner's Photoshop - 12h
This course offers a comprehensive overview of the Adobe Photoshop toolset and gives students a practical understanding of the image-editing basics.
During this course you will learn to modify images and combine multiple images to create new compositions.
Our combination of lecture and labs teach you to:
- Open, import, create, and save images
- Use the Photoshop toolbox
- Select parts of an image and manipulate key areas of an image
- Change image size and resolution
- Make quick color and tonal adjustments
- Convert between color modes, and more.
This course is essential for beginners to the Web and Graphic Design fields, as well as Marketing and Production managers, specialists, and photography enthusiasts who want better production value in their work.
Intermediate Photoshop – 12-18 hrs.
In our Intermediate Photoshop course we will build upon your knowledge of Photoshop tools and assist you in the transition from being a beginner Photoshop user to a more professional-level Photoshop user. This course will give students the necessary foundation for mastering Photoshop for Graphic Design and Web Design.
Our extensive lecture and hand-on labs teach you to:
- Draw and paint with Photoshop tools
- Work with digital photographs of varying qualities and resolutions
- Use layers, and advanced layering techniques;
- Retouch and transform images
- Use channels and masks
- Apply filters for special effects
- Produce professional, final pieces that are both web-ready and print-ready
and more.
Advanced Photoshop – 18 hrs.
Our Advanced Photoshop class is for students who have a solid background in Photoshop tools and want to take their Photoshop skills and creativity to its limits.
We will be reviewing the use of layers, raster vs. vector formats and resolutions and image compression. At the end of the course we will have masterfully produced files that are ready for optimal print and/or Web output.
Our extensive lecture and hand-on labs teach you to:
– Work with advanced layering and adjustment layers
– Optimize blending modes and select appropriate brushes
– Master masking, the drawing tools, and using paths
- Use the history brush and history palette
– Create professional-level compositions
Final group projects will be determined based on student interest.
This course requires previous course work in Photoshop.
Beginner Illustrator –12 hrs.
Start on your path to digital illustration with Adobe Illustrator.
Illustrator is the premier vector graphics authoring tool used in illustrating for print and the web. Learn to create basic illustrations and work with the palettes, drawing tools, and menus in Illustrator.
Topics covered include:
-Illustrator Work Environment - Art board

-Working with Paths

Intermediate Illustrator – 12-18 hrs.
This intermediate course is for students who have previous familiarity with Illustrator tools
and want to explore more powerful features for type formatting and wrapping, path creation,
and areas of image manipulation.
Students will master the essentials of digital illustration and learn to prepare files for print production.
We will be also be covering the integration of Illustrator and Photoshop and optimizing output file capabilities.
Topics covered include:
-Working with Type and Graphics combinations
-Type Masks
- Blending modes and gradients
- Using Styles, and Effects
- Advanced layer techniques
- Gradient Mesh effects
- Drawing in 2D and 3D (perspective, boxes, cylinders,)
- Transform tools
This course requires previous Illustrator coursework with palettes, tools and menus, and a
desire to learn advanced illustration skills through hands-on labs and project work.
HTML and Dreamweaver
Master the necessary tools for creating web pages and web sites with this HTML foundation course.
Students will learn the basic principles of HTML coding - including formatting fonts and colors, building tables, alignment of elements within the page, and hyperlinks to link pages to other HTML pages and outside websites.
By the end of class, you will be able to create HTML pages and entire websites using HTML and Dreamweaver tools. You will be able to both build the pages from scratch on a stripped down program such as notepad, or by using Dreamweaver.
We’ll start will basic HTML coding and then move into using Dreamweaver for its feature-rich capabilities.
In the Basic HTML section of this course topics covered will be:
- HTML tags and code formatting
- Generating links
- Creating basic tables for layout
- Creating frames, and assessing layout needs
- Planning and creating your web site using HTML pages
- General Web Design techniques
- Making HTML files and sites “live”
In the Dreamweaver section of this course topics covered will be:
- Inserting Text and Images into Dreamweaver
- Properties palette
- Objects panel
- Dreamweaver menus
- Creating Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for simple, uniform page display
- Adding basic JavaScript to Dreamweaver pages
